One of the biggest loves of my life,
the M/V DOULOS,
has made the papers today!!!
I was just 16 when I saw her docked in Rio de Janeiro and my heart leaped!
I so wanted to be part of the crew!!! 300 people from 40 different nations!!!
For the next 3 years I hoped and prayed that one day I’d be accepted on board at least as a volunteer for a couple of weeks!
Yet, when it was least expected, as I was living in the interior of São Paulo, well away from the sea, the opportunity to join the crew for 2 whole years came out of the blue and the entire course of my life turned towards Europe!
I joined the ship in Vitória and we sailed for 15 days until we reached Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands! A few weeks later, while in Tenerife, I celebrated my 20th birthday! On that very day, one of my heroes of all times, the amazing George Verwer, arrived to stay on board and speak to us!
Unforgettable times!!! God doing more than I could ever ask or imagine!!!
I still find amazing how this lovely old lady kept faithfully going while other ships like the RMS Titanic and even the M/V Logos, have sank! It must be because throughout all these decades of service people have been faithfully praying for her and for her crew! It’s a great blessing and testimony of God’s grace and faithfulness to see this amazing ship continuing to make headlines and being a blessing to so many people around the world – even out of the water as now!
Mr Eric Saw is the newest addition to my list of heroes! May our Lord bless you mightily in this new venture!
